How To Draft a Cap Sleeve – Easy

Hello Beautiful People,

I hope your day is going great.

I made this Ankara dress few years ago. The fabric was given to me by a dear friend and I love it a lot.

I decided to share with you how I made the cap sleeve for this dress. The fabric was only 1yrd and 3/4 and I wanted to make use of it in a way that it would come out looking good. Because the fabric was so small for me, I thought I could only make a sleeveless dress with it. I really do not like sleeveless dresses because I believe I have a big biceps and that’s why I decided to add a sleeve cap to the dress.

I did a video about it Here on YouTube. You can also scroll down to watch it.

Let me know what you think.

Sew With Me – M7936 Jumpsuit – Using Ankara Cotton Fabric

Hello Beautiful People,

Spring has arrived in Minneapolis, where I live. Last week’s temperatures were in the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit, which I appreciated. You wouldn’t believe it’s back to 40 degrees and snowing.

I made this jumpsuit few years ago, probably during COVID. I used the McCalls pattern M7936 for this jumpsuit. If you follow me on YouTube link here you would have seen it.

I did a little bit of adjustment to it:

  • I added one inch to the shoulder and extended the sleeve an inch with a flap that I rolled up.
  • I added 1 inch and half to the jumpsuit. I added it in the mid section so it could extend the crotch.
  • I also added an inch to the seam allowance.
  • I added pockets

I like the jumpsuit a lot and I will be making another one, probably a 3/4 length.

Let me know what you think.

How To Make a Simple Medium Size Face Mask

Hey Beautiful People, my Coco DIY family,

This is an older video that never made it to the blog. I made this mask two years ago with the help of my mask template or pattern tutorial. It can be found in the link highlighted. To sew the mask, I used the medium size of the pattern. For me, the medium is just right, it fit on my face perfectly.

I made several of these masks using my leftover fabrics and gave them to members of my church, as well as sending them to various charity homes through my charity Blessing Alms.

Please leave a comment below if you have any questions about the video, and also don’t forget to subscribe to my Youtube Channel

DIY Self Drafted A line Gathered Bottom Dress

Today’s post is a dress I made during summer. Some of you may have seen it because I posted it on instagram few months ago. It’s a very simple dress that you could wear with sash or without the sash. You could also lengthen the gathers on the dress.

I was on pinterest when I came across this dress worn by MimiG (picture below) and fell in love with the simplicity of the dress. I knew right away that I was going to make a similar one.

I decided to record a video tutorial while sewing the dress so if you like the dress you can give it a trial. Here is the link to the YouTube video.

What I did Differently

  • I shorten the bodice part of my dress because I didn’t have enough fabric so I measured it right to my hip but could have added 2″.
  • I also shorten the length of the gathers compared to hers.
  • I added a cap sleeves to mine

DIY V9315 – Crop Top -Sew-Along And Review

Hey Lovelies, I’m so excited about this top. It’s Vogue 9315. I’ve seen different varieties of this pattern being sewn and I really love them all which motivates me to buy one.

Going through my fabric stack I noticed this African print cotton wax fabric which was a remnant from a previous dress I made and right away I know that was the fabric I was going to use.

Here are what I love about the pattern. First, the long sash which you could wrap around twice in each direction. Second, the peplum sleeves and Third the crop is shaped perfectly.

PATTERN MODIFICATIONS

Checking other blogger’s recommendations, I decided to

  1. Add 1.5 inches to the length of the top but it was still a bit short for me so next time I will be adding 2 or 2.5inches.
  2. I raised the neck by 1.5 inches because of my triple D cup.
  3. I added 3 inches to each sleeve peplum and increase the length by 1.5 inches.
  4. I added lining to the front and back bodice.

Going through the pattern, I do recommend the pattern and I think I could easily turn it into a dress.

I did a sew-along video for the pattern which is the video above.

DIY Simple 5mins Summer Dress

Hey Lovelies, How is your weekend. Here is a simple summer dress I made a few months ago.  It’s so simple you could easily put it together within 5mins.

I got the fabric from Joann Fabric Here and all I did was just join one piece together and added straps to it. I made a similar dress a few years ago Here

It’s so simple that I plan on making several more of this dress in different fabric designs.
